The Japan Tourism Agency was created in 2008 by the Japanese government as an organization to serve as the hub for new tourism efforts and drive their deployment.

Part of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism1, The mission of the Japan Tourism Agency (JTA) is to enhance Japan’s tourism-related measures towards the ultimate goal of creating a tourism nation by: expanding international tourism exchange, such as the Visit Japan Campaign; and, preparing a national environment friendly to tourist travel, such as the Japan National Tourism Organization.
