World Travel and Tourism Council

The World Travel and Tourism Council is the forum for business leaders in the travel and tourism industry.

With Chief Executives of some one hundred of the world’s leading travel and tourism companies as its members, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has a unique mandate and overview on all matters related to travel and tourism. For more than twenty years, the World Travel and Tourism Council has led the debate on contemporary issues affecting the sector and has initiated a constantly evolving program of activities aimed at raising awareness of the most pressing issues and bringing about change, including Freedom to Travel, Policies for Growth, and Tourism for Tomorrow.

The mission of the World Travel and Tourism Council is to raise awareness of travel and tourism as one of the world’s largest industries, supporting 260 million jobs and generating 9 per cent of world GDP. As such, WTTC advocates partnership between the public and private sectors, delivering results that match the needs of economies, local and regional authorities and local communities with those of business, based on: governments recognizing travel and tourism as a top priority; business balancing economics with people, culture and environment; and, a shared pursuit of long-term growth and prosperity. In 2000, they created the Global Summit.
